Among the guests of Villara are those who, having arrived once, come back here for many years in a row. The royals, Formula 1 stars, movie stars, not to mention the many ordinary travelers. Two hours from Geneva Airport along Lake Geneva and Lavaux vineyards – and you can already uncover skis and admire Mont Blanc from the slopes of the resort. In the canton of Voyard, Villars are sometimes called Villars Ecole – a reminder that famous international schools and colleges are located at the resort. Largely thanks to them, Villars gradually turned from an ordinary Swiss village into one of the best family resorts in Switzerland.

The ski lifts link four comfortable ski regions here. A single skipass allows you to ride on all tracks, including the neighboring resorts Leys and Le Moss. Most of the tracks are spacious blue and not very difficult red. But after the snowfall, virgin lands on the slopes of Villars are much longer than their neighbors.

Villars is not a Mecca of freeride, however, due to the proximity of Lake Geneva and the microclimate features in late January and February and March there is a lot of snow here. And the abundance of forest slopes above the resort allows you to find very interesting routes of any complexity. One of the most interesting leads from Chaux Ronde to the bottom of the gorge, in La Rasse; from here you can move to the Grionne sector, on the slopes of Le Chaux (2020 m). A very scenic skiing area for experienced skiers is located on Petit Chamossaire, in good weather, you can go down the slopes in the direction of the village Vers l’Eglise or return to the chairlift on Chaux Ronde. A more complex off-piste route is located on the Croix des Chaux slope, to the left of the blue trail. It leads to the old village of Taveyannaz. Off-piste skiing from the Glacier 3000 glacier over Diabler requires not only a certain experience, but also the participation of a guide – these routes can argue in complexity with the best in Switzerland.

At the height of the season, a snowpark is open in Villars, next to which a lounge bar with palm trees works – an excellent point to watch jumping and flying, as well as to admire Mont Blanc while lying in a sun lounger.

For those who are more resolute, a large Glacier 3000 park is used on the glacier in Diablera during the whole season (usually from the end of October until May), which is focused on freestylers and snowboarders. In the offseason, this park is often chosen for training by professional athletes: the excellent condition of the snow and three lines of figures of varying difficulty – only 18 elements (kickers, rails, boxes, etc.).

Cross-country skiing tracks (classic and ridge) are laid around Villar and above it. In a short time you can reach very picturesque areas, for example, in the ancient village of shepherds, where houses of the XVII century are preserved, or to the sheer cliffs in the Solalex area. Around 30 km of tracks for classic and 15 km for skating are prepared around Diabler.

Tandem invented for those who for some reason can not ride on their own. The first passengers of these seats were disabled, then the audience tandem expanded at the expense of children, old people and those who yearn for something new. Riding in a special “ski” sled (the instructor controls them from behind) usually lasts for half an hour and costs 55 francs.

In addition to beautiful views and gentle slopes at an altitude of 3000 m (Glacier 3000), you can arrange dog sledding, especially on holidays with children. Blue-eyed Huskies give themselves to stroke, take pictures with pleasure and anxiously rejoice before the start of the run. During the trip, you can understand how to manage the harness and learn a lot about the life and work of huskies and huskies. The cost is 15 CHF per adult, 8 CHF per child under 14, prior reservation is required.

An indoor ice rink is located in the sports center of Villars. Skates and special accessories for learning to ride kids can be rented. An outdoor ice rink operates in Grion, near the train station.

In Diabler is the longest trail in the region – 7.2 km. Twice a week it is possible night skiing with dinner in a mountain restaurant and subsequent mulled wine. Upstairs you can climb on a chairlift (Vioz – Mazots), at the lower station which you can rent a sled (14 CHF for adults, 7 CHF for children – for day skiing).

Children are a special concern at this ski resort. In the office for tourism, you can rent the necessary equipment for babies – strollers, kangaroos, car seats, carrying, child seats, bathtubs and cribs. Above the station building in the center of the resort is a free skiing area for beginners, where there are several children’s lifts. Up to the big “kindergarten” and ski schools on the Bretaye glade, you can take the train. A few steps from the station there is a large children’s ski stadium, where a bebilift and a yoke are working, there is a minislalom track, cabins, and wigwams.
