The Val Di Fiemme ski resort, located in the Italian region of Trentino, is well-known among athletes in various winter sports — professionals and amateurs, as well as their fans. They chose this wide valley, surrounded by wooded mountain peaks, for a long time – some for training and finding out who among them is the strongest at the moment, others – to look at all this and support their favorite team.
Sports competitions have always been held here quite regularly, but more recently, their number has increased significantly. The organizers of international and prestigious competitions, more and more often opt for this hospitable resort. So, in the past winter season, in addition to the World Cup stages, the Val Di Fiemme hosted the World Championships in ski sports. And in this, the World Winter Universiade and the World Junior Skiing World Championship were added to the annual sports events, which have become perhaps the most important sporting events.
Val di Fiemme is ideal for becoming one of the world’s capitals of winter sports. The valley, located in the Dolomites, has a suitable climate and terrain for laying cross-country skiing tracks in the valley and tracks for downhill skiers and snowboarders on the slopes. In addition, there are jumps for “flying skiers” and an indoor palace for sports on the ice.
Add more modern stadiums and all the necessary facilities that meet high international standards, the technical capabilities are guaranteed to maintain the necessary level of snow on the slopes and slopes, excellent infrastructure, the ability to simultaneously accommodate tens of thousands of guests in local hotels, transport accessibility and you will understand that an alternative to Val Di Fiemme will be very difficult to find.
In the winter season 2013-2014, Val Di Fiemme will host the following competitions.
The Universiade is an international competition, similar to the Olympic Games, in which young people and students take part, is held every two years. It was originally supposed to be held in Slovenia, but the organizers decided to move it to Italy – to Trentino.
One of the most prestigious races among professional athletes. It is held annually and consists of 4 stages in Germany and Italy. The last and most spectacular of them is traditionally held in Val di Fiemme. First, mass start competitions are held – for women at a distance of 10 km, for men at a distance of 20 km. On the final day, the athletes will have to overcome 9 km. the final race in the ascent – from the ski stadium Lago di Tesero to the intermediate station of the Alpe Cermis lift, where part of the route (3.5 km) runs up the mountain slope – a height difference of 420 meters, average slope of 12% (max. 28%) .
To become a champion, you need to train from childhood. Nothing motivates sports like competition. In Italy, they understand this perfectly and regularly organize a real ski race for young athletes. In addition to the age of the participants, everything else will be “grown-up”; for this purpose, this time they determined the tracks and the stadium, where in 1991, 203 and 2013 the FIS (International Federation for Ski Sports) World Championships were held. Take part in the competitions Trofeo Topolino – “race for mice”, going to pupils of schools for cross-country skiing, not only from all over Italy, but also from many European countries.
This famous international amateur race is the Val Di Fiemme trademark. This season it is held for the 41st time. The distance is 70 km. It starts in the neighboring Val Di Fassa and passes through the entire valley from Moena to Kanadzei, turns back and finishes in the main city of Val Di Fiemme – Cavalese.
To take part in the race there is a chance for literally everyone, and here more than ever the principle will be relevant – “The main thing is not victory, but participation!”.
