Someone, hanging around with carbines, alpenstocks and ropes, specially goes the most difficult route along the steep walls, someone armed with trekking poles rises by hiking paths, someone enjoys mountain views from a helicopter …

This post I will talk about another way – cable car or lift. The advantage of the elevator is that it quickly takes you to a particular station, from where you can either go for a walk on the plateau or go to the next station, or just watch the views from the observation platform, and then go down to send it to the next lift. . If you wish, you can have time to visit several tops in one day, or even visit a dozen of the top stations of the lifts.

In the vicinity of Chamonix there are a dozen cable lifts – Vallorcine, Charamillon-Les Autannes, Lognan-Grands Montets, Planpraz-Brevent, Belleuve, Prarion, Flegere-Index, Aiguille du Midi … At each station downstairs there is a ticket office where you can buy a ticket . The cost for each route is individual – from 12 to 50 euros per trip. When buying a ticket, you can choose options like Van-Wei (one way) and retour (round trip). The cost will be different, but not by much.

In the summer, there is a great way to save a lot on lifts if you have a desire to visit several upper stations – buying a multi-ticket, or as it is called Multipass.

The multi-pass makes it possible to use the cableways in Chamonix without limit, as well as the Mont Blanc tram and the Alpine railway in Montenver. The period of use is determined by the type of multi-pass

The cost of one-day is 54 euros, two-day – 67 euros, three-day – 78 euros, a week – 121 euros

Landing platform of one of the stations of the cable car in Chamonix. At the entrance there is a monitor with information about the route, temperature below and above, as well as other necessary and useful information. The information is broadcast in different languages, including Russian.

If you take a place near the window, you can enjoy incredible views in the process of lifting. In some places, the trailer passes in close proximity to the rocks.

Parking downstairs. Somewhere there is our car
At an altitude of just over 1000 meters in mid-summer everything is green. Temperature is about 22 degrees Celsius.

But at an altitude of 2317 meters, at the Plan de l’Aguille station it is already about 5 degrees Celsius and there is snow

At the intermediate stations, you can exit, and you can continue to climb further. If you do not have a multi-pass, you need to buy again a ticket for a further route.

Different routes use different types of trailers. For example, on the long large, with a capacity of 40 people.

For short ones, these are booths for 4 people.

There are medium-sized cabins, like this 30-seater Brevent route.

In fact, each station allows you to admire the views of Mont Blanc and the Alps both from observation platforms and going out to a plateau or tourist trail. The photo shows the observation deck of the Plan Praz station and the transfer platform to the Brevent station.

If you do not want to walk or admire the views from the viewing platforms – go to the specific cafes … Emotions with a glass of wine are provided

In conclusion – several photos with views that open directly from the booths during the trip.
