With the ski area in La Plain everything is in order: here and a week is not enough to roll out all the tracks Paradiski. But the weather in the mountains is unpredictable, and new impressions may well replace fresh snow, besides, some mothers with children go to the mountains not at all for skiing, therefore an alternative to skiing should always be in a good family resort. And she is in La Plana there. We share with you our findings.

Near the cozy restaurant Le Chalet des Colosses with excellent cuisine there is a skating rink with natural ice and ice retro sleds, where you can have fun with the whole family – you just need to find a hardy cab driver. Although we personally rode with a breeze, using our own children as a pushing force. Inside the restaurant there is a skate rental: children from size 26 cost 5 euros (the price includes entry to the rink) and 3 euros for young visitors to Le Chalet des Colosses; An adult couple will cost 7 euros and 5 euros respectively.

Entrance to the rink with their skates costs 4 euros. At the door of the restaurant is a basket with hockey sticks, so that anyone can also drive the puck. The skating rink is open from December 14 to March 15.

Another entertainment for children available at the Bellecote resort is riding cute toy-like ponies with funny bangs. You can choose to ride a horse (the cost of such a walk is 6.50 euros) or horseback skijoring (on skis, holding the reins, 15 euros). The base is located near the lower station of the ski lift to the glacier Glacier de la Chiaupe.

Our children were so glad to have an unexpected meeting with these miniature horses on the slope, that they immediately began to smooth and almost kiss them, and when the guys were asked to sit astride, they were ready to jump on a pony themselves with delight. This lively attraction is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10.00 to 12.30 and from 14.30 to 18.00.

A trip to the glacier itself is a whole adventure, especially if you live at the Plagne Soleil resort and plan to go up with the kids. To do this, you will have to change two buses and one telebus (free cabins connecting Plagne Villages with Plagne Center), as well as two lifts (the first one starts from the station Plagne Bellecote, the second one – from Roche de Mio). But believe me – it’s worth it! Firstly, at the height of 3200 m there is a high-mountain Versailles – a restaurant with a terrace, where skiers and tourists can have a snack and drink a glass of hot wine, sitting in the armchairs of Louis XV around the carved table with candelabra, and enjoy the same luxurious furniture, view of mont blanc. Secondly, 300 meters from the restaurant there is an ice cave with sculptures of snow and ice: a giant iguana, mammoths, elephants, marmots, bears, monkeys, deer – this is an incomplete list of its inhabitants, who will surely please the children. Ours were delighted! The entrance to this ice age park costs 6 euros.

Carousel, Plagne Center
A real salvation for parents of active children: here even the most restless ones can hang out for a long time – if only there is enough money for tokens (which, by the way, it’s more profitable to buy 6 pieces at once for 10 euros, while one counter costs as much as 3 euros). The transparent tent protects the merry-go-round and all its visitors from any weather, so that in snow and rain, kids can circle horses, elephants and pirate ships, as well as in carriages and all kinds of cars, while mom walks through the covered shopping arcade located on the neighborhood. Lunch – from 12.30 to 15.30.

The novelty of this season is the illuminated three-kilometer Arpette toboggan run in Eldorado Park, which is open exclusively in the evenings (from 16.30 to 20.30). This is not child’s entertainment at all (only adults and adolescents above 1 m 40 cm are allowed to descend): it’s a joke, the height difference is 300 meters! After a few somersaults, you understand why you put on your helmet, and involuntarily you start to admire those who managed to deftly fit into the turn. Inexperienced lugers should start at Colorado Park in Plagne Center, where the route is shorter, which means that the load on the vocal cords will be half the size. In addition, skiing is possible in the daytime (the park is open from 13.30 to 18.30), and, getting used to the sledge and learning to adjust the speed, during the descent you can even have time to admire Mont Blanc. Growth restrictions are the same as in Eldorado Park.
