One of the main attractions of La Plani is the Olympic bobsled track, built before the Olympics in Albertville in 1992. The only one in France, this route is considered one of the most technically challenging in the world – there are nineteen turns per one and a half kilometer. Here still pass the World Cup stages and train the Olympic teams of Austria, Canada, Monaco, Germany and France. But the most interesting thing is that this heaped track, the content of which costs 800 thousand euros per year, is available for tourists from mid-December to mid-April and anyone can try out supersonic speeds on themselves, which professional athletes “drive on sleds”.

There are seven such routes in the world that are let out by mere mortals, but only in La Panaia the races take place on a unique shell made up here, bob-raft, equipped with an automatic piloting and braking system. After all four passengers (children allowed only to reach 130 cm) take their seats, the raft accelerates to 80 km / h and a minute and a half rushes along the icy trench (41 euros per person or 123 euros for a family of two parents and two children). We tried on ourselves this option and we can safely recommend such fun to anyone who does not suffer from cardiovascular diseases and does not complain of breathing and cervical vertebrae. True, we advise you to go on a raft with your company of four people and occupy places of growth. Or resist, if you suddenly put you behind some two-meter Dutchman – you risk nothing but his wide back, not to see!

Video cameras installed on board will capture all your impressions, so keep an eye on your face and profanity. At the finish you will be given a diploma and send a video confirming how famously you laid the turns and how well done you were.

If the squeals of neighbors interfere with enjoying the views, then you will surely like high-speed auto-piloted sleighs designed for single descent in a reclining state, which reach speeds of up to 90 km / h. Passengers who have reached the age of 16 (107 euros) are allowed here.

Well, for those who like it hot, there is not an option for the faint of heart on the track – bob racing, almost identical to the descent on a classic sports bob. Three passengers (strictly from 18 years old, 115 euros) with a breeze will ride a professional athlete-instructor, who in a matter of seconds will accelerate the projectile to 150 km / hour.

Before the descent, all brave men will have neck bracers to help avoid injuries due to overloads, which here, you understand, are not childish. Feelings are difficult to convey in words – at first it seems that you are floating in weightlessness and have little time to fix your eyes from the picture flying by. It seems that at this moment the passengers even stop breathing. However, the statistics are encouraging – all the tourists reach the finish line in their minds, safe and sound, and many even return for a new portion of adrenaline.

You can get there by free shuttle bus leaving Plagne Center. Arrivals are held on all days except Monday. You can book at the tourist office or at the ESF ski school.
