Igloo village in Les Arcs: some love cooler

Andermatt: Steep Mountain Gemstock
The second day it seems to me that we are alone on this mountain. Occasionally there are soldiers in groups of 7-8 people, who are specially brought to Andermatt and…

Snowboarders, newschool skiers, as well as teenage children can have fun in the fan park. It is perfectly visible to the right of the wheelchair leading to the highest point of the ski area from the Rinderhutte station. Good relief, a lot of different figures and close proximity to the lift – all you need! It happens, however, that the snowpark “with the head” flooded with snow (with snow in Leukerbad is usually full order) and they do not rush to dig it out – virgin lands are pitiful, they roll right through .

For fans of off-piste Torrent in general offers a lot of interesting.

A huge advantage in this case is the specifics of the resort itself. There may be a lot of “mountain men” and moderate katalschikov, but almost no people with wide skis and crowds of people outside the tracks.

Local experts favor skittur, but most often walk on the opposite side of the valley, on the Gemmi Pass, or go far away from Torrent, so that they are not visible.

In the alpine zone on Torrent, you can skate from the top of Torrenthorn – climb feet above the top station of the lift at 2610 m, cross the ridge and roll the entire southern ridge. There is always a “tilled field” and in addition to the appropriate avalanche equipment, a guide is also useful. You can also ride around the forest from the central station Rinderhutte and the middle station of the Flaschen cabin lift. The forest is wide, without undergrowth, with a good slope – in general, a dream, not a forest!

There are several routes on a steep and wide slope opposite the Torrentalp area (to the right, if you look at the map of trails), which the walking path for pedestrians crosses in zigzag. On it you can roll up to the beginning of the descent and it is also a cause of concern for local rescuers.

The slope on which it descends into the valley is steep and, if it falls, it will cover both the walkway and pedestrians, who occasionally walk around. Therefore, the official authorities do not recommend rolling this side.
During snowfalls and poor visibility, when the alpine zone is closed, riding through the woods is an excellent alternative to sitting in a bar. After the snowfalls, high-quality anti-avalanche work is carried out – helicopters arriving from Zermatt fire on all potentially dangerous areas.

The main specificity of Leukerbad and a pleasant discovery lies in the fact that most people are looking here (and successfully find) not skating, but a relaxing holiday with elements of sport. Restaurants with sunny terraces and mountain views will be filled rather than tracks, parks and virgin fields. That is, if you want an interesting ride – all your mountains!

Riding off-piste is associated with an increased risk. You find yourself in a dangerous environment, with unknown terrain and at your own risk. The level of training of a skier or snowboarder must be high. You also need to have a minimum avalanche equipment (probe, spade, beeper) and know how to use it.

There are helpers. Modern freeride skis make it possible to feel the whole thrill of riding in deep snow, without being a professional. It is enough to own carving technique and be in good physical shape.
